Humble Beginnings

Glass Today began in June of 2000 as Auto Glass Today. The business was started by two entrepreneurial brother-in-laws Rod Ellison and Shawn Stariha. Rod and Shawn had almost 30 years of auto glass experience between them. It began as a modest operation – one technician, a van and a garage. Rod was able to secure the purchase of the phone numbers from a bankrupt auto body business and with their yellow page advertising already in place, Auto Glass Today was off to a good start!

Auto Glass Today moved into a shop in Roseville, MN which was close to Interstate 35W and County Road C. This served as a great central location for mobile service. The business continued to grow as they added staff including additional technicians, salesmen and office personal.

"When You Need It Done Today!"

Rod and Shawn emphasized fast service (same day if needed), quality glass and experienced technicians. The slogan “When You Need it Done Today!” became a trademark of the business. The company never used telemarketers and they never gave out free steaks. They provided service and quality glass. The business appealed to insurance agents because of the ability to service the insureds. Soon the sales soared into the millions.

The City of Roseville began developing plans for the area where Auto Glass Today was located, so in 2004 the business secured a piece of property a few blocks away. A new shop was built next to Highway 35W on Cleveland Avenue in 2005 and opened for business in the new location in May 2005.

The Changing of the Guard

In February of 2006, the brother-in-laws sold the business to Kevin and Heidi Foley. Shawn Stariha remained at Auto Glass Today and worked for Kevin – in 2008 he again became a minority owner.

Kevin was well connected in the glass industry and knew that Auto Glass Today was a reputable business. He brought a new set of skills to Auto Glass Today: his management experience and his added knowledge of shower doors, home glass and commercial glass. Kevin was a great fit and 2007 turned out to be a great year full of record breaking months.

Auto Glass Today began expanding their services beyond auto glass. A division of home and commercial glass was added and began to grow. Kevin realized that the name “Auto Glass Today” did not tell the whole story of what the business offered and the business gradually adopted the name “Glass Today – Auto-Home-Business.” Glass Today continued to offer same day auto glass service, but the new name reflected the home and commercial side of the business as well.

To date, Glass Today employs 18 people and has a fleet of 10 vans. It is small enough to be personal and provide service but large enough to compete. Thank you for choosing Glass Today.
