Does your home have foggy windows?

It's a foggy day in the Twin Cities. Do you have a foggy window at your home or business? Learn about foggy windows and why you should have them repaired TODAY.

What is fog?

Fog is warm moist air coming into contact with cold air. One can see the effects of fog in the changing of the seasons, a drastic change in temperature, or even in our home windows.

Why is my home or business window sometimes foggy?

The Insulated Glass Unit (I.G.) is the actual glass portion of the window that rests in the window frame.  The I.G. Unit is made up of two sealed window panes.  These I.G. Units can fog up due to a broken seal in the window's structure. Seals can break from a number of things; cracked or broken glass, a manufacture’s defect, a poor seal, or other unknown reasons.  When the seal is compromised during the winter the warm moist air from the interior of the home comes into direct contact with the cool air of the exterior creating a condensation or even fog between the panes. The reverse can occur during the summer when the air conditioning is used on a hot day. While a fogged-up appearance  may only show up once and a while, the window seal failure remains. A broken seal in your window may also permanently coat the glass with a "milky" look, making the window less transparent.

What is the value of repairing or replacing a foggy window?

Window seal failure causes energy to escape. Heating and cooling bills can be decreased by having these Insulated Glass Units replaced. Many people believe that the entire window needs to be replaced when it is fogged or has condensation between the glass panes. This is not the case. The I.G. portion of the window can be professionally replaced to look as good as new. This will add energy efficiency, clearer views, curb appeal, home value, safety, and window integrity.

Why replace my foggy window TODAY?

Over time, a foggy window can cause the entire window frame and surrounding trim to rot. Replace the foggy window early to prevent the higher cost of total window replacement. If you happen to notice a fogged up window in your home or business Contact us TODAY for a free estimate
