Glass Today Gives Back to the Community

Glass Today is a locally owned and operated business. Our heart is rooted in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. Giving back to the community where we live and work is one of Glass Today’s core values.

Rock Chip Wednesday

On the first Wednesday of the month we offer “Rock Chip Wednesday”. Since its inception in July 2009, we have served our community and given lots of free Windshield Rock Chip Repairs and collected over hundreds of pounds of food for Second Harvest Food Shelf which provides meals for people in our community.

Wondering how to tell if your chip is repairable? Start by looking at the size of the damage. Most successful repairs are between the size of a pencil eraser and a coin the size of a quarter. If there are cracks or "spider legs" extending further than two inches beyond the outside of the circle, or if the chip is larger than a fifty-cent piece, the finished appearance is more likely to be unsatisfactory. Regardless of the size of the chip repair, once it has be filled, Glass Today will warranty the repair against further break out. Additionally, if you simply are not satisfied with the final appearance, we will deduct the price of the repair from the cost of the windshield replacement. (Note that chip repairs are not guaranteed to completely disappear.)

Chip repair is recommended by insurance companies, as it maintains the factory seal of the windshield, and reduces waste in landfills. Many insurance companies will waive your deductible if you choose chip repair over replacement. However, if the damage is in the driver's direct line of vision, the windshield should be replaced.

Customers ask, "How much food should I donate for the free rock chip repair?"

Glass Today sees customers bring anything from a single can of food to two full bags; it's completely up to you. Consider this: if you had only twenty minutes to perform a random act of kindness, how much would you spend, and how many people would you want to affect? What if that random act also saved
you money, time and protected the environment? What would that be worth to you? It's your call. Thank you for donating to Second Harvest's Food Bank!

(Rock chip repair takes about 20 minutes, and is a $65. value. Windshield replacement can cost $200.-$1000.+, and takes at least ninety minutes.)
